Benefit POREfessional Primer Review

Benefit-The-Porefessional-Primer-Review-1 Benefit-The-Porefessional-Primer-Review-2 Benefit-The-Porefessional-Primer-Review-3

I like most people I’m sure, am always on the hunt for makeup which stays put, controls oil, waterproof etc. Whilst it can be hard to find a product which incorporates all of those things, I don’t mind settling for makeup which just stays put, minimises pores and keeps oil at bay which is what I get from the Benefit POREfessional Primer.

I first started off with a sample of the POREfessional from a magazine and once I started using it I quickly fell in love. Since finishing the sample I immediately had to purchase the full sized tube!

The primer admittedly feels a little like silicone but it blends into the skin flawlessly with a mattifying finish and Benefit are true to their word when they say it minimises the look of pores. My pores are largest around my nose area so this is where I concentrate my application on, and after I’ve blended the product in I can instantly see how diminished my pores look. I also dab a little on my forehead to mattify the area before applying my foundation.

In time I’ve also noticed that it does a good job of controlling my dry combination skin by minimising oil in all the right places (forehead and nose). There was a time I would feel the need to blot my skin with blotting papers quite regularly before using the primer but now I can’t even remember when I last had to do so!

The only downside I’ve noticed with the POREfessional is that it can cling to dry patches (something I often find with mattifying products) so I’d recommend only applying on areas where you actually need it.

The Benefit POREfessional Primer is £24.50 which is a little on the pricey side compared to a lot of high street brands, but a little does go a long way and if you’re like me and only require small amounts at a time any way this tube will last you a good while! You can buy the POREfessional from Benefit’s website, Boots and most department stores.

Review: Chanel Malice Nail Polish

Chanel-Malice-Nail-Polish-Review-1 Chanel-Malice-Nail-Polish-Review-2 Chanel-Malice-Nail-Polish-Review-4 Chanel-Malice-Nail-Polish-Review-5

Malice is the most beautiful vampy, deep burgundy with a ruby red twist and plenty of gorgeous shimmer! It comes with a brush just wide enough so you can cover your nail in just a few strokes. I would prefer a slightly larger handle though as the small lid makes it difficult to hold on to at times. Aside from this, Malice applies like a dream and 1 coat is enough to provide perfect opacity which I what I look out for when I’m buying new polishes.

The only bad side about this lovely nail polish is… You’ve guessed it, the price tag. At £18 this is definitely my most expensive polish to date. I don’t normally splurge this much on nail polish since there are more than plenty of decent high street offerings out there, BUT Malice is a shade not to be missed!

So what do you think of Malice? Have you tried any other Chanel nail polishes before?

Prada Candy L’eau Eau de Toilette

I met Candy L`eau around a half a year ago, at the airport, coming back from a trip. I sprayed it on me without expecting to like or even love it, as I had tried the original Candy before and it did not attract me really. I found her sister to be quite different.

Caramel, yes, sweet (just as I like my perfumes to be), yes, but there was something more, something light, bubbly and happy, citrusy, something ladylike and pretty. However, I had already bought some other perfumes, so I just considered it being a good investment in the future, and forgot about it.

So I met my Candy L`eau again just recently. And now I truly fell in love. Maybe its the craving for something gourmand and comforting during this cold winter time (even though it is considered as a spring-summer perfume), I do not know, but this time it was contagious.

So now I am sitting here, smelling my coat which still has Candy L`eau on it (so the longevity is not that bad, it also stayed for quite a while on my skin, closer to the skin at the end, but so tempting that I sniffed my wrist every 20 minutes), checking every now and then, whether my package has been dispatched, as I cannot live without it.

I instantly ordered the 80ml bottle with the body lotion as a gift for myself on my birthday. It could easily become my new signature scent.

What Is Acne Laser Treatment?

laser

Acne laser treatment is a method that has helped millions to get rid of acne. Each year, individuals find out that the over the counter medications that they get at their local drug store just do not provide enough help to them. They have likely tried several products and can not find method to get rid of acne. Acne laser treatment can actually help to stop acne once and for all for many individuals.

How Does It Work?

Acne laser treatment is just what it sounds like. The technician will use a very powerful and small laser to effectively trigger the acne. Usually, the procedure will be done because the acne is being caused, at least in part, by over producing oils in the skin. The laser will get to these glands that are under the skin and causing the oils and destroy them. While this seems harsh, laser acne treatment is virtually painless. There are no ramifications to having these glands destroyed either. Once the glands stop producing oils, the bacteria that cause acne will not have an optimal place to grow. This in turn effectively stops acne.

It is important to know that in most causes acne treatments will not necessarily cure the acne that is already on your face or body. This will usually be done with antibiotics. Once the oils slow or stop though, there will be fewer outbreaks of acne on the face or body once these heal.

Scar Treatment

Another option for the use of acne laser treatment is that in which the acne scars can be removed. This very powerful laser can actually remove the top layers of your skin near and on the scar. When new skin grows back, it will be healthy and scars are either gone or they are not as visible. Acne scar laser treatment is fast becoming a way to get rid of acne scars that have been on a person’s body for years.

In either treatment, laser acne treatment can be quite effective. In some cases, there will be the need for several treatments to be done, though. The only bad part of acne laser treatment is that it is not necessarily cheap. With the several treatments that may be necessary, it may be quite expensive. Yet, even with that said, the results for laser treatments are amazing for many.

What Have You Been Neglecting?

7waystoencouragehealthyfingernailgrowth

For so long I was focused on making sure my mug was makeup optional. I became more conscious of ingredients and listened to what my skin was telling me it needed. As I learned more I couldn’t help but notice that there are other parts of the body that age as well and will reveal my true age if not properly cared for. Because I don’t have crow’s feet, deep dark circles, or bags the size of oranges, I felt I didn’t need an eye cream. The deeper I divulged into skincare I noticed my neck was being treated like a step child. I thought I could just carry my face moisturizer down to my neck and it was fine. Lastly, when I heard a more mature woman say, “You can always tell a woman’s age by looking at her hands,” a light bulb went off.

Of course I decided to see what the hype about an eye cream was all about. I’ve found that the more I used an eye cream my concealer didn’t crease, and the amount of concealer needed decreased; the puffiness in the morning is little to none, and my under eye area has brightened over time. I also decided to give my neck a little more moisture and attention. I’m not one for piling on the products, so I researched and found a great moisturizer that works wonders for the face and neck area. So often we don’t think to address an issue until we see signs of darkness, wrinkles, or aging. For me, moisture and prevention is key. As for those who are a little more “anti aging” conscious there are great products out there. The same woman who told me about my hands also encouraged me to pay more attention to the amount of  hand sanitizer usage, encouraging me to use one with vitamin e to help moisturize.

As women it’s in our nature to pick, poke, and pry until we find something wrong. Then we’ll focus on that “problem,” while all the while neglecting something else. What are you neglecting?

What To Do When You Are A Bridesmaid

Your best friend has text you saying she has an important announcement. She wants to meet with you at a fancy cafe in town. Now you’re starting to worry. What on earth could have happened that would justify an enormous coffee bill and breaking your diet on that fabulous cake they serve? She’s getting married, and you’re one of the bridesmaids!

When your friend shows you the wedding invites she is so excited she looks like she’ll explode. But when you hear that you get to be a bridesmaid, you’re the one bursting with excitement! Us girls only get to do this once or twice in life, but we love it when it happens. Getting our hair and make-up done and dressing up in fabulous dresses is a real treat.

Usually, the bride will have ‘employed’ more than one bridesmaid. Some have two; others have six or more.

The more you have, the more likely you will need a chief bridesmaid. This bridesmaid is sometimes called the maid of honour, but this title is usually reserved for a bridesmaid who is married. It is a huge responsibility and usually involves doing everything in your power to keep all the women at the wedding looking fabulous for photos.

You may want to start making a checklist of all the things you will need to have with you on the day. The most important thing to carry is the bride’s bag, as she will have her hands full. She will need full make-up set for touch-ups as it is going to be a long day. She will want her phone nearby for last minutes messages, and to take a few photos. She may also need a second outfit for the reception if she is dancing.

When you are considering your footwear, remember you are going to be on your feet and moving around even more than the bride. If you totter off your heels every time you stoop down to pick up the bride’s train, you could be injured. Think sensible but elegant. You will also need to keep an eye on the other bridesmaids. Nothing is less attractive at a wedding than a bridesmaid who has drunk too much and turned into a sobbing wreck. Diplomacy and tact are key skills in this job!

The mother of the bride is the second most important woman in the room. Do your best to make her feel as stunning and attractive as her daughter. If she has something in her teeth find a sensitive way to tell her before the photos are ruined. Help her with her hat when she takes it off for a dance. Make sure she gets some time with her daughter before the end of the evening.

In your wedding emergency kit, make sure you have dry tissues and wet/baby wipes. Pack emergency finger puppets suitable for all young children and a couple of snack bars. Also have bottles of water near the bride, groom and best man to help with dry-mouth during vows and speeches.

Review Foundation Christian Dior – Diorskin Forever

016 019

When thinking of whether or not to purchase this product you can become very confused! There are a lot of other amazing foundations e.g Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk. This particular foundation is one of Dior’s best sellers!

The product comes in a frosted glass bottle and a blue plastic lid with the CD logo in top. There are silver linings separating the lid from the bottle and this have DIORSKIN engraved in to them. The foundation also has a handy pump which makes handling the liquid much easier! In short the packaging is luxurious and handy!

Upon application the foundation is very soft and glides very easily across the face providing a full coverage almost instantly! The product also allows you to build up as necessary to get a more full effect. The one thing I noticed with this foundation is that it is best applied with the fingers to start, should you with to build this up then a second layer with a blending sponge is ideal. I tried to use a foundation brush but the product is very very quick to set and this then leaves an uneven coverage.

As you can expect from Dior the product has an amazing scent to it kind of like a sweet and floral scent that is not overpowering however it is noticeable. I am a fragrance driven person and fall for anything with a good scent however for you people who do not like scent or are sensitive to fragrances then I recommend you do not buy this straight away, go to the counter for a sample or even use the tester available to get a up close and personal use before splurging your hard earned cash!

Another great thing about this foundation is that it provides SPF25! Which is always a good thing!

The product retails for around £33 in the UK and is available in all majors department stores that have a Dior counter.

Overall, an amazing foundation that lives up to its expectations however the application is slightly hindered due to the quick setting of the product.

Review: Etude House Princess Etoinette All Over Powder

Needless to say it’s a very pretty piece of makeup and if you’re anything like me a lovely piece for your collection of “pretty highlighters” as I like to call them! Etude House created the All Over Powder so you can use it on your face, cheeks, neck, arms, eyes, even your lips if you want for a little hint of sparkle and shimmer! I like adding a touch on my eyes with black eyeliner for a little sparkle without over doing things and allowing the liner to shine through.

etude-apply-powder
The Princess Etoinette Collection is probably one of Etude’s most nicely packaged collections – think Marie Antoinette and Ladurée! So being the kawaii-holic that I am, I just had to have this prettily packaged powder. The loose powder inside is covered by a removable separator, and a cute laced and ribboned puff is also included.

The powder itself is a pale champagne tone – if you look closely you can spot silvery-pink glitters within the powder. It’s also softly fragranced, and smells of roses.
The sponge is not great for precision application of the powder – it’s mostly decorative I think! A soft brush would be much more suitable.
This Princess Etoinette All Over Powder is a must have! It’s a beautiful piece of makeup and well worth a purchase.

Review MAX FACTOR CC Sticks

011

Feck lines and wrinkles, uneven skin tone and dark spots are my real bugbears with this whole aging lark. So my sallow, dark circled and dark patched visage perked up visibly with the news of Max Factor’s new Colour Corrector Sticks, which promise to neutralise your specific skin concerns.

The five-strong range includes a highlighter crayon along with a green stick for redness, yellow for undereye circles, pink for dark spots and purple for sallow or dull areas on your face.

Adorably chunky, they’re playful to look at and fun to use – but what we all want to know is, do they actually work to even your complexion?

I’ve read some mixed reviews, but on my combination skin and oily t-zone, these have worked a treat. For the past week, I’ve used the pink or purple on my cheeks, forehead and chin, the green around my nose, yellow below my eyes and the highlighter on my cheekbones – every day.

Max Factor say you can use them under or over your base but I prefer them beneath, on bare (but moisturised) skin. Like other colour correcting artistry products that I’ve tried – such as Bobbi Brown’s colour  Retouching powders – the effect is subtle but, when combined with the rest of your slap, there’s definitely a noticeable difference.

The pink and purple do bring light and brightness to my face – but my favourite of the bunch? The dark circle corrector – it really helps to neutralise the monster bags beneath my eyes. Worn underneath my CC cream, and with a touch of concealer on top, this lightens and brightens the area and makes me look more fresh-faced and wide awake – when I’m feeling anything but.

Earrings -A Fashion Statement Of The Ages

il_fullxfull.417391035_mv7k

An earring is jewelry worn on the earlobe, usually clipped to the earlobe or fastened through a hole made in the earlobe. This is the piece of jewelry that is first noticed when looking at a person. This piece of jewelry decorates the ear and adds to the femininity of a woman. They are worn by both genders but to a lesser extent by man. They give the finishing touch to beauty and make a fashion statement.

History of earrings dates back to 2500 BC. In those days, earrings were worn only by the nobility. In the middle ages, this type of jewelry had taken a backseat as more importance was given to very elaborate hairstyles and neck pieces. They did make a comeback, and the metals used in the making of earrings were so heavy that the weight of the earrings caused elongated earlobes.

All precious metals such as gold, silver, platinum, and silver are used in the making of this adornment. Materials such as plastic, glass, and beads were used too. Precious gemstones like ruby, sapphire, topaz, diamond, and emerald were mounted on to the precious metal, giving the earring a more colorful, dazzling, and exotic look.

These adornments are made in all shapes and sizes to suit all types of faces. There are dangling ones, hoops, studs, buttons, droplets, chandelier earrings and many others. There are earrings to go with evening wear, for business meetings, office and more elaborate ones for weddings and other functions etc.

It would be interesting to note that in the days of Christ, it was said that wearing an earring was a demonic act. In India, in the earlier days, the Yogis practiced splitting their ears and placing large heavy earrings made of horn or glass at the time of their initiation into the sect. All that sounds crude with the advancement of technology and ear piercing is no longer such a tortuous procedure and is almost nothing more than pinprick now.

People from most cultures believe in wearing earrings at a very early age. In many cultures, ears are pierced as soon as the baby is born. This jewelry have never been the prerogative of women alone, as men wore them in years of yore and now wear them as a fashion statement. They have become a unisex piece of jewelry. Today the trend of wearing multiple earrings at the same time is prevalent.

The popularity of earrings has stood the test of time. They can enhance ones mood just my making a person feel confident and great.
