As we get caught up in the run-up to Christmas, many of us are busy trying to find the perfect gift, and when you are on the road it can be even more of a challenge. But have you considered giving that special woman in your life plenty of reasons to smile? Believe it or not, that could be one of the best gifts anyone could come up with, so read through some tried and tested tips to make her smile everyday.

If you love her, let her know

Yes, it really is as simple as that. Whether we are talking about your girlfriend, fiance or your wife, leave them a handwritten note telling them how much they mean to you and they will have no choice but to smile. Leave the note somewhere unexpected, like the bathroom mirror, in her coat pocket, the coach or on her dorm / hotel bed.

Flowers aren’t just for Valentine’s Day

You don’t need an excuse to bring her a gorgeous bouquet with her favourite flowers, and no, flowers are not just a way to say sorry when you’ve done something wrong. A bunch of carefully chosen flowers will definitely bring a smile to her face.

Cook for her

Spending time cooking for the person you love is a great way of showing your appreciation. If she has had a bad or busy day, volunteer to make dinner or surprise her with her favourite dessert when she gets back.  If you don’t have access to a kitchen then why not make a picnic to have in your hotel room!

Dance, just because

Improvise and be spontaneous by taking her out for a spin wherever you happen to be: the living room, the street, or a park. Dancing has been shown to boost our mood, and the best thing is that you don’t even need music!

The old art of flirting

You may have been dating or married for years, but that doesn’t mean that flirting with your girl is out of the question. In fact, it may be a very effective way of making her smile, as she will probably not be expecting it.

Down memory lane

Find out some of her most cherished childhood memories and try to recreate them for her. This could mean finding an old picture, surprising her with a trip to her childhood hideout, etc. You’ll need to be creative!

Offer a compliment

Let’s face it: men aren’t great at this, but it really isn’t that difficult: think about what makes her special and simply let her know. A genuine compliment will bring a radiant smile to her face.
